TYPO3 3.8.0?

Version 3.8.0 started

The first version of TYPO3 3.8.0 has seen the daylight. A couple of major changes, like the fact that language packs in this version are distributed as seperate XML-files, or extensions so to speak. A final release of TYPO3 3.8.0 will be expected late may 2005.

Version 3.8.0 is currently scheduled to late januar. But urgent matters seems to push this deadline I'm afraid. (quote Kasper)

One of the most important changes is the subdivision of extensions. They are devided as:

System Extensions
Extensions listed as TYPO3 cornerstones and features that are officially indicated as neccessary extensions.
Global extensions
Add extensions for an adapted distribution
Local Extensions
Extensies for a specific installation

We will:

Remove *all* global extensions in the distribution (some of which will become "System extensions", see below)
Select all extensions that are now considered "System extensions" and include in the core folder "typo3/sysext/".

During the 2005 snowboard tour a special presentation of the new workflow module is expected.
